This is the hatchery I bought chickens from this year. The broilers are doing great and its great supporting local hatcheries in Iowa.
It is no secret that my wife and I support Iowa State. We regularly watch Iowa State Athletics especially football and men's basketball. Throughout the years we had accumulated numerous Iowa State University tshirts. Since we had so many of them and since my mother-in-law and owner of QuiltKeepsake.com we had he make a tshirt quilt for us.
We took our chickens to be butchered on Friday, July 12 after raising them for 55 days (just slightly under 8 weeks). We did a live weighing at 50 days to make sure we were going to make our target weight for butchering. We targeted 6 lbs for our dressed (processed ready to be cooked) chicken weight which is on average about 2 lbs.
I decided to do a few upgrades to the Spring Creek Farm website. With more and more people using smart phones and tablets the need for a website to be easily seen and navigable on any type of platform and screen size has become a must. The new Spring Creek website thus has a responsive theme so it can be easily viewed on any device.
Healthy Harvest of North Iowa will be holding an Online Marketing workshop on Saturday, March 9, 9 - 1 p.m. (location: tbd)... Stay tuned for more details soon....
This is a new effort in 2013. Join us for planning discussions. Contact Jan Libbey for further details: libbey.jan@gmail.com
